10K Gold Calculator

10K gold is .4167 (41.67% gold). Type a weight below — the calculator isolates the pure-gold fraction and prices it at the live spot rate.

10K is the legal minimum to be sold as gold in the US, and the workhorse of budget jewelry — durable, pale, and the most commonly lowballed karat because sellers underestimate it. At today's prices even a light 10K chain clears real money.

How to verify a 10K stamp

Look for 10K or 417 inside ring bands and on clasp tongues. Because 10K is the palest karat, it's the one most often mistaken for costume metal — a quick acid or XRF test at any buyer's counter settles it, and a magnet screens the crudest fakes (gold is never magnetic).
